In a significant gesture of support, Airtel Money Kenya Limited has contributed Kes 25 million to the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) to assist the victims of devastating floods caused by the heavy March-April-May (MAM) rains.
This all-cash donation aims to enhance KRCS’s relief efforts, focusing on the restoration of livelihoods in some of the hardest-hit counties.
Impact of the Donation
The donated funds will be crucial in the recovery of communities in the western and lake basin regions of Kenya. Specifically, the support will target the restoration of the fishing industry and entrepreneurial skill-building for fisherfolk.
Additionally, farming community members from Eastern Kenya, who have been severely impacted, will receive livestock to help restore their livelihoods. Overall, the interventions are expected to benefit over 20,000 households in the affected areas.
