Apple has made some changes to the accessibility of its Apple Intelligence features in the latest beta release. Initially announced in June, these AI-driven capabilities were limited to US English users, with early betas requiring devices to be set to the US region.
However, the third beta of iOS 18.1 and macOS 15.1, released to developers on Wednesday, marks a shift in this approach.
The updated release notes for beta 3 reveal a crucial modification. Users are now only required to set Siri to US English language, eliminating the need to change the device’s region to the United States.
This adjustment allows for greater flexibility, as changing region settings can impact various device functionalities, including phone number formats and calendar layouts.
9to5Mac has verified that Apple Intelligence features are now accessible by simply changing both Siri and device language settings to US English. This development is particularly beneficial for international users eager to explore Apple Intelligence without altering their regional preferences.

While this change broadens access, it’s important to note that certain features, such as Writing Tools and Summarization, remain exclusively available in English.
Additionally, hardware requirements for Apple Intelligence persist, with compatibility limited to iPhone 15 Pro or later models, as well as iPads and Macs equipped with M1 chips or newer.
The beta 3 release also introduces a preview of Clean Up, Apple’s answer to the popular Magic Eraser tool. This new feature allows users to remove objects and people from photographs.
In line with Apple’s commitment to privacy and on-device processing, Clean Up operates locally and is available on devices that support Apple Intelligence.
