Apple has officially confirmed it’s next launch event scheduled for September 7. Normally, Apple tends to hold three to four events in a year. There’s usually a spring event in March, the Worldwide Developers Conference in June, a September event that’s focused on new iPhones and the Apple Watch, and sometimes an October event if there are iPads or Macs expected.
In this years September event, which Apple is referring to as Far Out, we expect to see the iPhone 14 range of smartphones alongside the Apple Watch series 8. Here’s what else we expect from the Far Out event.
iPhone 14
We are expecting Apple to launch four iPhone 14 models in 2022, including the 6.1 inch iPhone 14, the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 Pro, the 6.7 inch iPhone 14 Max, and the 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Pro Max. There will be no 5.4-inch iPhone 14 mini, it is rumored that Apple killed the mini series.
The iPhone 14 Pro models are expected to feature a “hole-punch” design that does away with the notch for a larger display area. The front-facing camera will be located in a small cutout, and Face ID hardware will be in a second pill-shaped cutout. Other possible features include a titanium frame for the Pro models, camera improvements, a faster A16 chip, always-on display (Pro models only), and a faster 5G modem.
Apple Watch Series 8 and Apple Watch ‘Pro’
Apple normally launches the new wearables alongside the iPhone and this year is no exception. The Apple Watch Series 8 could get new health features which include temperature sensing, and sleep apnea detection, and more advanced features like blood glucose monitoring and blood pressure measurements are a possibility, though may not be coming until a later date.
We also expect to see a rugged Apple Watch Pro model that will better hold up to extreme usage. It’s expected to be geared towards extreme sports and endurance athletes. It will come with a larger 1.9-inch display and longer battery life. It’s also expected to be made from titanium, adding to the durability. Apple should launch the Apple Watch SE too alongside it’s bigger siblings.
Anything else?
Apple is also rumored to be working on new Air Pods Pro and iPads, and Apple has already said that a new Mac Pro is in the works too. So there’s always the possibility those could be revealed at this upcoming event. We’ll be covering everything coming out of the show, so keep it locked.
