Are you in the market for a new pair of wireless earbuds but also happen to be on a budget? Look no further than the Haylou GT1 Pro. These earbuds offer a range of impressive features and capabilities at a very affordable price point, making them a great choice for anyone on a budget.
I’ve had the Haylou GT1 Pro buds for over a month now and here’s my full review. Spoiler alert, for the price, they are really good.
What’s in the box?
If you get the GT1 Pro buds, you’ll get the following accessories in the box.
- The buds themselves
- The charging case
- 2 sets of ear tips
- A micro-USB cable for charging the case
Design
The ergonomic design of the Haylou GT1 Pro earbuds makes them an absolute pleasure to have on for long hours. The buds fit well into my ears and I had no issues listening to music for an extended period of time.
As pointed out earlier, the buds do come with 2 extra sets of ear tips, so if the default ones don’t fit, you can change them to get your desired fit.
The Haylou GT1 Pro only come in one color, matte black, which I find a little disappointing. I do wish they came in a wide variety of colors like the Xiaomi Redmi Airdots 3. The GT1 Pro buds are also IPX5 waterproof, meaning you do not need to worry about sweat or rain droplets. The 800mAH charging case that comes with the buds is compact and can easily fit any pocket. The casing also has 4 LED lights at the front that indicate the charge percentage of the casing.
Sound quality of Haylou GT1 Pro buds
The sound quality of the GT1 Pro buds is balanced, with bass, mids, and highs all in line with each other. However, I’m a bass lover and I found myself wanting some more bass from the buds. The buds also separate the vocals and instrumentals really well.
I also noticed that the sound doesn’t get distorted even when playing music at the highest volume. When playing videos, there’s a noticeable delay in the sound but nothing too serious. I however wouldn’t recommend these buds to anyone who plans on using them when playing online game.
Connectivity and controls
The GT1 Pro buds have no physical buttons hence all functionalities are carried out by touching the buds. The smart touch functionality is very sensitive and often leads to accidental touches when repositioning the buds. A single tap on either buds plays or pauses the music, two taps on the right earbud advances a track; two taps on the left bud takes you back to the previous song.
Unfortunately, It’s not possible to change the volume on the earpieces, you’ll have to use your phone for that. One area the GT1 Pro buds fall behind is the connectivity department. The buds run on Bluetooth 5.0 which maintains a reliable connection for up to ten meters, but I did notice minor connection drops and this can be really annoying when your listening to your favorite tunes.
Battery life & charging
I’m happy to report that the Haylou GT1 Pro buds have solid battery life. The buds offer about 26 hours of music playback on a single charge and this is thanks to the 800 mAh charging case. Each earbud has a 43mAh battery which can last 3 to 4 hours on a single charge. With my use case, I’m able to go for about five days without having to charge the buds or charging case.

I should note that some competitor wireless buds like the Oraimo AirBuds 2 Stereo Bass offer better battery life. Charging the charging case takes about three hours to fully charge while the the buds take around 1.5 hours to fully charge. The case has four LED lights that let you know how much power you have left, they also act as a progress indicator when charging the case.
Here’s what each number of LED lights indicate:
- 4 LED lights: 75% to Full Battery.
- 3 LED lights: 50% to 75%.
- 2 LED lights: 25% to 50%.
- 1 LED light: White and flashing: from 0 to 25%.
Price and availability
You can get the GT1 Pro buds for Ksh 3,500 from the Xiaomi store. This is a very good price for these buds as they handles the basics very well. The Haylou GT1 Pro buds offer decent 4 to 5 hours of battery life, balanced and excellent sound quality and can easily fit in any pocket you throw them in. Granted there are other wireless bud in the same prices range that offer better bass levels, battery life and connectivity, the Haylou GT1 Pro buds offer a balanced out sound profile.
If you love your lyrics and instrumentals, I’d highly suggest these buds.
