The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2024 results were released today, January 9, 2025, by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba.
This year, a record 965,501 candidates sat for the exam across 10,755 centres, up from 903,138 in 2023.
Where and How To Access the 2024 KCSE Results
The results are accessible online via the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Results Portal. This method ensures quick and direct access.
Here’s how to check your results:
Online Access via KNEC Portal
- Visit the Portal: Navigate to https://results.knec.ac.ke/. Note: High traffic might slow loading.
- Enter Your Details: Input your 11-digit index number and registered name as used in the examination.
- Submit Information: Click the “Submit” button to proceed.
- View Results: Your results will appear on the screen. Print or save a copy for your records.
No SMS Option
Previously, KNEC allowed SMS-based result checking. However, this service is no longer available.
Candidates and parents now rely exclusively on the online portal or access the results through their schools.
President’s Remarks on KCSE Performance
President William Ruto highlighted Kenya’s advancing education sector ahead of the results release.
In his X post, he emphasized investments in the curriculum, increased teacher recruitment, and the expansion of school facilities.

These efforts have led to improved school performance nationwide, with more girls enrolling and completing secondary education.

Marking for the KCSE exams concluded on December 13, 2024. Examiners worked across 35 marking centres countrywide to complete the process efficiently.
Additionally, the release follows the earlier publication of Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) results. Grade 6 pupils who completed the KPSEA exams will transition to Grade 7 at their current schools.
