If you happen to be a WhatsApp group admin, you’ll agree with me that WhatsApp group spam and privacy is a major concern. Luckily, the Meta owned company recently introduced a handy feature that aims to solve these two issues.
By enabling this feature on WhatsApp, you, as the group admin can screen any participants wanting to join your group.
Here’s how to go about it.
How to enable the Approve new participants feature
Turning on the setting for approving new group participants is an excellent approach to improve the security and privacy of your group. You will no longer have to be concerned about a random person having access to your group’s data.
As a result, this function allows you to properly manage your WhatsApp group/groups.
When this option is enabled, a new member who attempts to join the group via an invite link is not instantly able to do so. They must instead wait for one of the group admins to accept or reject their request.
To enable this feature in your group, do the following:
- Open WhatsApp on your phone and select the group on which you want to enable this setting.
- Tap the name of the group at the top of your screen and scroll down until you see the Group Settings option.
- After selecting Group Settings, you will see an option called Approve New Participants.
- By default, this setting is disabled. To enable it, tap the option and press On.
With this feature on, every new member joining the group will require approval by the admins before they join.
Better management over your WhatsApp Group
Over the past few months, WhatsApp has been releasing new features to make groups management on WhatsApp a lot easier. They recently introduced WhatsApp Communities, a feature that help you organize other group chats under a single directory.
The ability to screen and approve new group members ensures only relevant people can join your group.
