Threads, the latest social media platform from Meta, has made its entrance, promising a new way to connect and share with others. If you’ve recently downloaded the app and found your feed flooded with posts from unfamiliar faces, don’t fret. As an avid Threads user since its launch, I’m here to share a quick hack that will help you see threads from people you follow first. Let’s dive in!
Discovering Threads: Instagram’s Twitter Rival
Created by Meta, the parent company of Facebook, Threads offers a fresh take on social media. With Threads, you can write, share, and respond to posts using up to 500 characters. If you’re already an Instagram user, signing up for Threads grants you an instant following. However, some early adopters of the app were surprised to find their feeds filled with threads from strangers, leaving them yearning for familiarity.

The Hack to Prioritize Familiar Faces
While Threads currently lacks the option to limit your timeline to only those you follow, we have a workaround to ensure your notifications and threads predominantly feature familiar faces. Follow these steps to customize your Threads feed and make your social experience more tailored:
Step 1: Open the Threads app and navigate to your profile
Launch the Threads app and tap on the profile icon located in the bottom right-hand corner.
Step 2: Access the settings menu
Tap the two lines in the top right-hand corner to access the settings menu.
Step 3: Select Notifications
Within the settings menu, locate and tap on “Notifications.”
Step 4: Choose Threads and replies.
Next, select “Threads and replies” from the available options.
Step 5: Opt for “From people you know” settings.
You’ll encounter various settings, including Likes, Replies, Mentions, Reports, Quotes, and First Threads. Tap each of these options and choose “From people you know.”
Step 6: Return to your feed.
Tap the Home icon to return to your feed. You should now see posts exclusively from people you follow on Threads, offering a more familiar and personalized experience.
Restoring Default Settings: If you wish to revert to the default settings and view posts from a wider range of users, follow the same steps outlined above and select “Everyone.”
Conclusion
With this quick hack, you can now curate your Threads feed to prioritize posts from people you follow, creating a more tailored and familiar social experience. While Meta has acknowledged the need for such a feature in the future, this workaround allows you to enjoy the content you care about right now. Give it a try and embrace a Threads feed that feels like home.
