Nigerian startup, Primed E-Health, is making waves in the healthcare sector by automating hospitals and clinics with its innovative SaaS solution, Smartclinic.
Founded in 2021, the company is already delivering tangible results, improving patient care, boosting revenue, and saving lives.
Addressing Persistent Industry Challenges
The startup’s “Smartclinic” hospital management system aims to tackle longstanding inefficiencies around patient data authenticity, paper-based records, cash transactions, mismanaged appointments, and revenue leakage.
“Healthcare providers have struggled with these critical issues for years, hampering their ability to accurately track health metrics and provide quality, transparent care,” said Dr. Abdulhafiz. “Our automated, easy-to-use platform fixes these systemic problems.”
Accelerated Development Through COVID-19 Response
Primed E-Health first conceived Smartclinic during a COVID-19 hackathon organized by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in 2020 to address pandemic impacts.

Impressed by the solution, the NCC provided pivotal support to accelerate its nationwide deployment and seamless integration across hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, labs, and radiology centers.
Traction and Growth Across Key Metrics
Since launching Smartclinic, Primed E-Health has seen substantial growth across key metrics:
- Over 45 major hospital clients signed up
- 10,000+ doctors onboarded onto the platform
- 2 million+ patients directly impacted
- Over 10,000 smart cards sold every month
- 15,000+ digital transactions processed monthly
Demonstrated Patient Health Outcomes
Dr. Abdulhafiz highlights measurable healthcare improvements from Smartclinic adoption, including:
- 65% revenue increase for major hospital within 7 months
- 100,000+ expectant mothers assisted, reducing maternal mortality to <4%
- 50,000+ children now accessing vital checkups and care
- Pediatric mortality lowered from 17% to <5.7%
Ongoing Funding and Expansion
Originally self-funded, Primed raised an initial seed round from The Baobab Network. They recently secured $18K after placing in the Startupbootcamp AfriTech accelerator, foreshadowing further growth.
“We generated $214K last year and aim to double it in 2023 as we look to expand across Francophone and East Africa,” said Dr. Abdulhafiz. “The public sector posed initial skepticism, but focusing first on hospitals helped demonstrate our value and scale rapidly.”
