With Starlink rapidly gaining traction in Kenya, Safaricom has responded by unveiling new adjustments to its Home and Business Fibre internet packages.
The changes, aimed at staying competitive, involve upgrading existing speeds and introducing new high-speed plans, providing customers with enhanced internet experiences for home and business needs.
Revamped Safaricom Home Fibre Packages
Safaricom has made significant adjustments to its Home Fibre plans, offering higher speeds at existing price points and introducing a new premium package.
The updates include:
- The Bronze package has been upgraded from 10 Mbps to 15 Mbps, priced at KES 2,999.
- The Silver package has moved from 20 Mbps to 30 Mbps, priced at KES 4,100.
- The Gold package has doubled its speed from 40 Mbps to 80 Mbps, priced at KES 6,299.
- The Diamond package has seen a dramatic increase from 100 Mbps to 500 Mbps, priced at KES 12,499.
- The newly introduced Platinum package offers an impressive 1000 Mbps for KES 20,000 per month.
Additionally, Safaricom has launched the Family Share plan, an innovative solution that combines mobile voice, data, SMS, and home internet into a single plan.
This package is designed for heavy users such as gamers, content creators, and virtual reality enthusiasts, allowing internet sharing among up to five members of a household.
According to Peter Ndegwa, CEO of Safaricom PLC, “We have enhanced our Home Internet speeds to cater to the increased demand and usage by offering reliable connectivity and enhanced value for our customers. The introduction of the new speeds offers the capability of handling the most demanding online activities with ease, including high-definition streaming, 4K/8K gaming, large file transfers, cloud computing, and virtual reality.”
Safaricom’s Fibre Initiatives and Expanded Coverage
In addition to speed upgrades, Safaricom plans to enhance customer experiences through estate clinics and capacity expansion in congested areas.
The company also aims to offer competitive 4G and 5G home internet solutions for regions without fibre coverage, ensuring a broad reach for its services.
New Business Fibre Packages for Enterprise Customers
For enterprise customers, Safaricom has revamped its Business Fibre offerings, providing enhanced speeds tailored to meet the evolving needs of businesses of all sizes.
Medium and Large Enterprises can now access Dedicated Internet plans with speeds up to 1 Gbps, featuring 24/7 proactive monitoring, network visibility, burstability, backup options over fibre, 5G or wireless connectivity, static IP support, embedded security, and a remarkable 99.99% uptime guarantee.

Peter Ndegwa highlighted the importance of these upgrades, stating, “The needs of our Enterprise customers are changing each day with the growing need to use technology. The enhanced fibre for business plans will allow our enterprise customers to have a worry-free experience with the provision of backup data.”
Business Fibre Plans for SMEs
Safaricom’s Business Fibre plans include:
- A 15 Mbps shared plan suitable for micro businesses with up to five concurrent users. This package includes 5GB of mobile backup data and 400 minutes of monthly voice communication.
- A 50 Mbps shared plan designed for small enterprises, supporting up to 15 users. This plan includes 15GB of mobile backup data and a Closed User Group voice plan with unlimited voice communication for up to three users monthly.
- A 100 Mbps shared plan aimed at growing enterprises with multiple outlets and up to 50 users. It includes 15GB of mobile backup data and a Closed User Group voice plan for unlimited voice communication among three users.
These business packages also come with a special offer for new customers, including a one-time 30GB mobile data bundle and a complimentary email and website domain for the first year.

Business customers can access Business Fibre, 4G, and 5G services through the USSD code *485#, Safaricom shops, the business website, and authorized dealer outlets.
