Samsung recently refreshed part of its popular Galaxy A series portfolio with the launch of the Galaxy A05, A15 and A25 models. As expected, the company held off on announcing the Samsung Galaxy A55 and A35 – typically on a separate reveal schedule for March.
Even without an official unveiling, prominent leakers have already disclosed several key details surrounding the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A55. We still have a few weeks until Samsung’s formal announcement, but the early snippets provide an exciting preview of what to expect from the A55’s specs and features.
In this article, we’ll break down the latest leaks to provide a sneak peek at what this impressive mid-range phone has in store.
Rumored Samsung Galaxy A55 Specs
According to renders shared by notable leaker MySmartPrice, the Galaxy A55 will introduce a fresh aesthetic for the A-series phones. It sports a metal frame with flat sides, much like the premium Galaxy S24 flagships.
This gives it a more polished, symmetrical look while likely improving the in-hand feel. The phone is also rumored to have an IP67 rating for protection from dust and water—a nice feature not found on many mid-rangers.
Under the hood, reports indicate Samsung is currently carrying out internal testing of the Galaxy A55 with a SoC with model number S5E8845, which we believe to be the still-unannounced Exynos 1480 chip.
That’s because the Exynos 1380 and 1280 carry model numbers S5E8835 and S5E8825, respectively. And these chipsets power up the Galaxy A54 and A53, respectively. The Exynos 1480 is also rumored to bring AMD graphics to the mid-tier for the first time.
In the camera department, leaks suggest the Galaxy A55 5G will actually reuse the more-than-capable camera system of its predecessor.
This consists of a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultrawide lens, a 5MP macro, and a 12MP front-facing shooter—a versatile array to handle everything from wide landscape shots to detailed closeups. Paired with Samsung’s industry-leading update support, you can bank on this setup to capture great images for years.
Launch Projected for Mid-March 2024
If prior release timelines hold true, Samsung will introduce the Galaxy A55 around March 2024. For two straight years now, the tech giant has unveiled its latest A-series revision shortly following its February Galaxy S launch.
Given the A lineup’s increasing prominence within Samsung’s portfolio, an early Q2 2024 time-frame lines up well. As soon as more details or confirmations surface, we’ll provide updates on the final launch date.
