With 2024 almost over, the Samsung Galaxy S25 launch event is imminent. Samsung will unveil the next-gen Galaxy S series in mid-January, just like last year.
However, thanks to a new report from FNNews, we already have an idea of what to expect from the Galaxy S25 launch.
What We Know About the Galaxy S25 Series
As we’ve come to expect, the Galaxy S25 lineup includes the Galaxy S25, S25 Plus, and S25 Ultra.
All devices are set for release on February 7, following their January 22 announcement.
This aligns with Samsung’s typical two-week window between unveiling and availability, similar to the Galaxy S24 launch earlier this year.
All models will feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip from Qualcomm. The 512GB and 1TB versions of the Ultra will come equipped with 16GB of RAM, enabling advanced Galaxy AI functionality.
Camera upgrades include a new 50MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, a significant leap from the S24’s 12MP sensor.
Out of the box, the series will run Android 15 with Samsung’s One UI 7. However, details about specific AI enhancements remain under wraps.
Galaxy S25 Slim: A Post-Launch Addition
Leaked marketing materials and the FNNews report confirm the existence of a fourth device, the Galaxy S25 Slim, which Samsung will introduce during the January Unpacked event.
However, unlike the other S25 models, the Slim won’t hit shelves immediately.
While we don’t yet know the full specs of the Galaxy S25 Slim, what we do know is that it will feature innovative camera technology called ALoP (Advanced Lens Optics Processing).
This tech allows for a thinner, sleeker design by shrinking the size of folded telephoto camera modules by 22%. The secret is a smart combination of a 40˚ tilted prism reflection surface and a 10˚ tilted sensor assembly.
In plain English, that means cameras can now take up less space, eliminating the need for those large, awkward camera bumps.
The Galaxy S25 Slim will likely be the first device to debut this technology. If it performs as advertised, ALoP could set a new trend for thin, premium smartphones.
More details about the Galaxy S25 Slim, including its pricing and availability, are expected to be revealed during the Unpacked event.
Price Adjustments Expected
Leaks suggest a potential price hike for the Galaxy S25 series. This increase could be due to the weakening won-dollar exchange rate after Korea’s martial law crisis and the higher production costs of the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip.
However, sources suggest the hike will remain modest, as Samsung prioritizes competitive pricing to maintain strong sales.
Pricing for the Slim version has not yet been disclosed and may be addressed during the launch event.
