Samsung recently unveiled the Galaxy Z Flip 5, which featured a larger cover display as one of its notable upgrades. Interestingly, rumors suggest that Samsung is already in the early stages of testing the Galaxy Z Flip 6, which could potentially boast a groundbreaking 50MP main camera.
However, it’s important to note that this information is based on an early leak and has yet to be confirmed. Samsung may ultimately decide to stick with the tried and tested 12MP camera instead. If the 50MP sensor does make its way into the Galaxy Z Flip 6, it could be a game changer for Samsung and the entire Galaxy Z Flip series.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 desperately needs a camera upgrade
Samsung introduced the 12MP primary camera in the first Galaxy Z Flip model back in 2020. Although the primary camera was improved last year with the Galaxy Z Flip 4 by adding a larger sensor for better low-light photography, it still maintained the 12MP resolution.
In contrast, Samsung’s rival, the OPPO Find N2 Flip, already offers a 50MP primary camera, and it is likely to further enhance its capabilities with the upcoming OPPO Find N3 Flip, putting Samsung in a challenging position.

There are numerous advantages to using high-resolution sensors. With their higher pixel count, these sensors can capture cleaner and brighter shots, particularly in low-light scenarios. Additionally, the photos taken with higher resolution are more detailed, especially when viewed at their native resolutions or in daylight conditions.
Moreover, the 50MP sensors enable digital zoom through image cropping and facilitate 8K recording. Considering this, it is hoped that Samsung will make significant improvements to the camera hardware in the Galaxy Z Flip 6 next year, as the current iteration lacks notable enhancements in that aspect.
