Yesterday, Tecno hosted its Autumn event in Nairobi, unveiling a range of new devices and products. The highlights of the event were the company’s latest foldable devices, the Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 and Phantom V Flip 2.
These are Tecno’s second-generation foldables, bringing enhanced designs, upgraded features, and significant improvements to compete with top foldable phones such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6.
With these new releases, Tecno aims to solidify its position in the foldable smartphone market, pushing the boundaries of innovation while addressing the growing demand for flexible devices.
Here’s what both devices offer…
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2
The Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 is a foldable smartphone designed with high-end features aimed at providing both a large-screen experience and practical functionality when folded.
It has a 7.85-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 2000 x 2296 pixels and a 120Hz refresh rate, offering smooth animations and sharp visuals.
The cover display is a 6.42-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 1080 x 2550 pixels, also supporting 120Hz. Both displays are designed to offer high brightness and color accuracy, making the device suitable for content consumption and multitasking.

Internally, the phone runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, a high-performance SoC built on a 4nm process. The 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage provide ample space and processing power, although there is no option for expandable storage.
The phone features a 50MP triple camera setup, with wide, telephoto, and ultrawide lenses, supporting features like optical image stabilization (OIS) and PDAF.
The 5750mAh battery supports 70W wired charging, which can reach 50% in 20 minutes, and 15W wireless charging.
The Phantom V Fold2 runs Android 14 with HiOS 14 Fold, and will receive two major Android updates. Available in Rippling Blue and Karst Green, the phone also supports a stylus and comes with IP54 water and dust resistance, making it both functional and durable
Tecno Phantom V Flip 2
The Tecno Phantom V Flip2 is a compact foldable device with a 6.9-inch AMOLED LTPO display, supporting a 120Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution.
It also has a 3.64-inch AMOLED cover display, which allows users to interact with over 200,000 apps without needing to unfold the device.
Powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chipset, it comes with 8GB of RAM (expandable with an additional 8GB of virtual RAM) and 256GB of internal storage.
It features a 50MP primary rear camera, and Tecno has integrated its AI Suite, offering features like AI Writing and AI Artboard. The 4720mAh battery supports fast charging, ensuring extended use.
The V Flip2 runs Android 14 with HiOS, offering an updated user experience. It is available in Moondust Grey and Travertine Green, adding style to its functionality.
Tecno Phantom V Fold 2, Phantom V Flip 2 Price and Availability
The Tecno Phantom V Fold 2 will be priced at KES 135,000 for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage variant, while the Tecno Phantom V Flip 2 comes in at KES 82,000 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model.
Given the advanced technology and features packed into these devices, I find this pricing quite reasonable. While it may still be considered high for the average consumer, it’s a competitive price point that could likely accelerate the adoption of foldable phones in the market.
