Fitbit, the renowned brand committed to comprehensive fitness tracking and health solutions, is gearing up for a significant visual transformation. With a focus on enhancing user experience and design, Fitbit plans to release an innovative revamp of its app this autumn, incorporating key elements of the Material You design language.
This update promises Fitbit enthusiasts a sleek, streamlined interface, empowering them with a variety of new features to customize their health journey. The revamped Fitbit app emphasizes easy accessibility to important data. Google, the parent company of Fitbit, revealed that the update introduces three new tabs — Today, Coach, and You.
Today
The Today tab offers personalized metrics and graphically enhanced progress charts, aiming to tailor users’ health objectives to their individual needs.
Four stats can be shown here, with several presets offered for quick customization:
- Get more active: Steps, Zone Minutes, calories burned, distance
- Reduce stress: Mindfulness, stress management score, sleep
- Sleep better: Sleep, steps, mindfulness, Zone Minutes
- Improve heart health: Heart, health metrics, Zone Minutes, exercise
Tapping on any of these sections takes you to revamped stat pages with even more comprehensive information and explanations.
In the “Activity” section, you can monitor exercise days, your Readiness score, Active Zone Minutes, Steps, Hourly activity, Distance covered, Energy burned, and Floors climbed.
The “Sleep” section provides data on sleep duration, patterns, and a sleep score to help you understand your sleep quality better. For “Stress & Mindfulness,” the app displays body responses, the number of mindful days, and stress management information.

Under “Nutrition,” you can track your food intake and water consumption, while the “Health” section offers insights into various health metrics, including Breathing rate, Resting heart rate, Heart rate variability, Skin temperature variation, and Weight. Additionally, it provides specific tracking for heart health, menstrual health, glucose levels, and skin temperature.
Delving into the stats, you’ll find more consistent charts that provide a clearer visualization of your progress over the past day, month, or year. The Fitbit app has also revamped graphics, illustrations, and icons with a modern style, enhancing the overall aesthetics and user experience.
Coach
Under the Coach tab, the new Fitbit design creates an immersive environment for fitness content. Users can explore a wide range of workouts and mindfulness exercises, made even more adaptable by Fitbit Premium’s exclusive content. To enhance user-friendliness, Fitbit has introduced filters to help users sort through available content based on their preferred time and required equipment.
You
The You tab provides a more private area within the app, offering a contrast to the information-rich Today and Coach sections. Here, users can easily modify their personal information, track their accomplishments, and maintain social connections.
In addition to functional improvements, the new Fitbit app sports a fresh color palette and modernized icons, enhancing the platform’s visual appeal. This makeover, driven by valuable user feedback, aims to make the application simpler to navigate, easy to use, and highly personalized.
While it’s not yet confirmed whether this version will include the dynamic wallpaper-based colors characteristic of Material You, Fitbit users are certainly hopeful for a vibrant and visually engaging experience when the update rolls out in a couple of weeks.
With this exciting visual transformation, Fitbit continues to set itself apart in the competitive fitness app market. By prioritizing user experience and design while incorporating the innovative Material You design language, Fitbit aims to empower its users on their fitness journey like never before.
