The Universal Energy Facility (UEF), a results-based financing (RBF) initiative managed by Sustainable Energy for All (SEforALL), has officially launched the #FinancingEnergyProsperity campaign.
This campaign is designed to emphasize the importance of clean energy investments in Africa, aiming to build and support local clean energy markets across the continent.
A Vision for Clean Energy and Socio-Economic Development
One of the main goals of the UEF is to raise awareness about the critical need for sustainable energy solutions in Africa.
With approximately 600 million people lacking access to electricity, this initiative is more than just an environmental solution—it’s a catalyst for socio-economic development.
By displacing harmful diesel generators and other polluting energy sources, UEF contributes directly to climate change mitigation while improving the lives of African communities.
Real-Life Impact Across Africa
The #FinancingEnergyProsperity campaign highlights the tangible, life-changing benefits of clean energy. Communities in various African nations, including Benin, Nigeria, Madagascar, Sierra Leone, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, have witnessed the positive impact of UEF-supported energy projects.
By providing businesses, schools, and health facilities with reliable energy, these regions can now offer expanded services, benefiting tens of thousands of people.
Anita Otubu, Senior Director of UEF, expressed her enthusiasm, stating, “I am very excited about the important stories that will be shared by the beneficiaries in the coming months. People will have the opportunity to witness the success of the UEF as an efficient and secure mechanism for donors, governments, and the private sector to mainstream efforts to provide reliable and sustainable energy to underserved and unserved communities.”
A Track Record of Success
Since its inception, the UEF has committed over USD 22 million in grants to clean energy companies. This funding has led to the creation or improvement of nearly 10,000 energy connections and the installation of almost 6,000 kWp of photovoltaic capacity.

As a result, more than 40,000 people now have access to clean energy, and 3,700 tons of CO2 emissions are being reduced or avoided annually.
These figures are expected to rise significantly by the end of the year as several UEF-funded projects reach completion.
Unlocking Further Investment and Green Jobs
The financial support provided by UEF is also a driving force behind the expansion of green energy jobs.
As clean energy companies grow their operations, additional funding sources are catalyzed, further contributing to the development of sustainable energy markets in Africa.
The ripple effect of these investments promises to unlock the full potential of energy prosperity in the region.
“#FinancingEnergyProsperity isn’t just about numbers; it’s about the transformative power of clean energy access. By showcasing real stories of lives impacted, we aim to inspire continued investment and collaboration.
Together, we can unlock the full potential of sustainable energy to improve thousands of lives and bring socio-economic development to Africa,” stated Sherry Kennedy, Communications Director at SEforALL.
Join the Movement
The UEF’s #FinancingEnergyProsperity campaign invites everyone to join the effort by sharing their stories and spreading the word on social media.
By participating, individuals and organizations can help raise awareness of the urgent need for clean energy investments in Africa.
Every contribution, whether through sharing content or engaging with potential partners, can make a meaningful difference in the lives of thousands of people across the continent.
