Samsung is gearing up to rejuvenate its Galaxy FE lineup with a slew of devices set to debut by the close of 2023. Among the anticipated releases, including the Galaxy S23 FE and Tab S9 FE, it’s the design of the upcoming Galaxy Buds FE earbuds that’s stealing the spotlight.
Leaked images provide a glimpse into Samsung’s return to the classic design of the original Galaxy Buds, which first graced the market back in 2019.
A Retro Reimagining
Noted leaker @GaryeonHan first shared official product images of the SM-R400N model number, confirmed to be the Galaxy Buds FE by Max Jambor. The visuals showcase a shape and styling highly reminiscent of the first-gen Galaxy Buds from 2019 rather than the recent Galaxy Buds 2 and 2 Pro.
While the overall look is familiar, the cover plate sports a refreshed design for a new twist. The leaked shots also highlight the presence of wingtip stabilizers with ear hooks to securely lock the buds in place. This marks a major shift from Samsung’s current bean-shaped earbuds lacking stem styles or stabilizers. The wingtip addition seems inspired by the original Galaxy Buds and their fit.

Launch Alongside Galaxy S23 FE
Additional posts by Max Jambor indicate the Buds FE will likely launch in Q4 2023 alongside the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Tab S9 FE and other FE series devices. The Galaxy S23 FE, in particular, is shaping up to be a highly anticipated addition that brings flagship-grade specs at an affordable price point.

While details remain scarce, the Galaxy Buds FE seem primed to deliver a mix of new features while evoking nostalgia through the classic design.
Samsung Leveraging Nostalgia
The callback to the original Galaxy Buds design is a clever nostalgic play by Samsung. It reminds fans of its early trailblazing efforts in the true wireless space. But the retro styling is ultimately a packaging play. The Buds FE will still pack in latest audio hardware, seamless connectivity and meaningful quality-of-life upgrades.
The revived FE series marks Samsung looking back even as it charts new tech territory. By the end of 2023, fans can expect a blast from the past paired with meaningful upgrades across several Galaxy FE devices.
