WhatsApp has introduced a convenient new feature in its latest beta release that allows users to link their email address to their account. This provides an additional login option that can come in handy in certain situations.
By adding your email, you can now use it to receive the 6-digit verification code when logging into WhatsApp. To set this up, simply head to Account Settings and enter your email address under the new “Email Address” option. WhatsApp will send a verification link to confirm it’s your address.
While a phone number is still required to create a WhatsApp account, this email login can serve as a useful backup. For example, if you travel somewhere without cell service, you can now log in with Wi-Fi through your email access instead of relying on SMS messages.

The email feature is available in the current WhatsApp beta version 2.23.24.12 for iOS and Android. Given positive feedback from testers, we can likely expect the handy new capability to roll out more broadly soon.
This added bit of flexibility improves security by providing an alternative way to get into your account if your number is inaccessible for any reason. It’s another step forward in making WhatsApp both more convenient and secure for its billions of users worldwide.
