WhatsApp Drafts are now a thing thanks to a new recent update from the Meta-owned company.
For a platform with over 100 million monthly active users, it’s surprising this tool wasn’t available earlier, especially when competitors have had it for years.
Aptly named Message Drafts, the feature lets you know if you have unsent messages typed up in chats so you know to get back to them later.
If you start typing a message and don’t send it, WhatsApp now marks it with a green “Draft” label at the beginning of the chat.
These chats automatically move to the top of your chats list. According to WhatsApp, this makes it easier to “quickly locate” your unfinished messages.

The tool is live globally and works directly in the app. Whether you’re crafting a detailed reply or just procrastinating, you can now return to your drafts at your convenience without worrying about losing them.
This update is part of a broader set of improvements. WhatsApp recently added custom lists to help you organize conversations and introduced a feature for adding contacts across devices without relying on your phone’s address book.
If you’ve ever abandoned a half-written message, WhatsApp Drafts makes sure it’s easy to find and finish. Give it a try—it’s available now.
