Xiaomi’s Redmi series is well-known for its value price and its recent addition to the Redmi family is the Redmi 10c. Xiaomi Kenya has quietly released the Redmi 10c in the Kenyan market.
The device comes as a replacement to the Redmi 9c from last year, but brings in a huge spec bump in the camera, charging and performance departments.
As mentioned above, the Redmi 10c has three things that make it stand out from its competitors and predecessor:
- The 50MP main camera
- The Snapdragon 680
- 18 watt fast charging capabilities
Let’s have a deeper dive into the Redmi 10c’s specs:
Display
The display quality and resolution of the Redmi 10c is similar to that of the Redmi 9c but bigger. The screen size comes in at 6.71 inches with a pixel density of 1600×720 pixels (HD+). The screen still refreshes at 60Hz and has a dot drop hole that houses the 5MP front facing camera.
Cameras
The rear camera setup consists of a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth camera. The 50MP main sensor is a huge improvement compared to the 13MP main sensor found in the 9c.
The 50MP main sensor should enable you to take sharp and clear photos. I don’t think you’ll bother much with the 2MP depth sensor but it should let you take portrait photos with bokeh backgrounds.
Performance
To me, this is where the Redmi 10c truly shines, under the hood the Redmi 10c is powered by the new Snapdragon 680 SOC. This chipset is based of the 6nm architecture and offers much more performance and efficiency compared to last years Helio G35 found in the Redmi 9c.
The 680 is backed up by the Adreno 610 GPU, making the Redmi 10c a great gaming phone for the price. I should note that the Snapdragon 680 is found in devices that are way expensive when compared to the Redmi 10c.
Battery & Charging
The Redmi 10c comes with same 5000mAH battery as the Redmi 9c but the Redmi 10c supports fast 18 watt charging. The only downside is that Xiaomi only includes a 10 watt charger in the box. With the 5000mAH battery paired with Snapdragon 680 and HD+ screen, you should get over a day of normal use on the device comfortably.
Price & Availability
The Redmi 10c series is available in selected Xiaomi stores, prices starting from Ksh16,500 for the 4Gb/64GB model. You can get it from the Xiaomi shop located at Bihi towers, 5th floor, room 9.
Conclusion:
The Redmi 10c is a great smartphone for its price. If you get it, you will enjoy having a device that performs really well, lasts really long, has good cameras, and charges relatively fast. It is a great device and offers a lot for its price, go ahead and get one.
